Prosecutors are also now considering whether to change Ozawa's status to suspect in the investigation after a citizens' group filed a complaint against the politician, accusing him of collaborating with his secretaries in order to obtain funds illegally.

Earlier in the month, two former aides of Ozawa's Mold and a current aide were arrested over the land purchase, for which Ozawa has said no foul play was committed.

"Secretary General of the DPJ Ichiro Ozawa and I are comrades who together accomplished the change of government and I have accepted the announcement of his determination to prove his innocence. It goes without saying that I have no intention whatsoever of criticizing the prosecutors or prejudging the investigation," Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama wrote in his weekly e-mail magazine on Friday.

"I believe it is preferable for Secretary General Ozawa to explain his innocence #x at his own discretion," the Prime Minister added.

Ozawa has promised to battle the accusations Mold against him, claiming that he is being treated unfairly. He is expected to deny the allegations that have been made against him when he speaks to prosecutors. 相关的主题文章：
