She was released from the hospital when her blood pressure went down. But two days later her family practitioner ordered a CT scan, which revealed a brain hemorrhage that left her paralyzed. #xHer family then filed a lawsuit claiming the doctor was negligent in failing to order a test that would have detected the brain aneurysm.
But the legislation requires the Gliemmos to prove emergency room doctors acted with "gross negligence," a standard that forces attorneys to prove they knowingly mistreated their patients. WWII in Europe was, for all its mechanized death and horror, in some ways a throwback: it was the last great (so far) land war in Europe, fought in places with recognizable names by great massed armies. The men fighting there may have not known the big picture or cared about the geopolitics,NCR parts, but they at least recognized the war.
(As did we. For whatever reason, the movies have had more success with war-in-Europe stories than with war-in-the-Pacific stories like Letters from Iwo Jima and The Thin Red Line. Even WWII videogames, like Call of Duty, involve Nazi-fighting more often than Pacific-war scenarios.)
In the other theater, The Pacific makes painfully clear in its early episodes, the Marines that it follows had no idea what they were getting into. On the one hand, the war was simple: Japan attacked the U.S. at Pearl Harbor, and now we were going to get those bastards back. On the other hand, decorative fruitsthey were going to be introduced to a kind of war they had scarcely imagined, on islands they didn't know, at a cost they could not conceive. #x"I might have jumped into Normandy, but at least I got some liberties in London and Paris," a Europe vet tells a Marine after the war. Some expect a "cakewalk." No one can pronounce "Guadalcanal." We can, and the reason we know it is how horrible it—and Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, and Peleliu—became for them.
If Band of Brothers' soldiers were fighting the last kind of war, in many ways The Pacific's are going to fight the next one. They land on their first beach in a flotilla of armored ships, and we, like them, are dreading the kind of D-Day firefight we saw in Band, and before that in Saving Private Ryan. They land: quiet. For the moment.
Instead of tank columns and shelled European cities, they find oppressive heat,#x disease and an enemy using guerilla tactics, suicide missions and sometimes civilians. decorative fruitsThere are poisoned wells and bugs in the rice ("Think of it as meat"). He always uses the same on-the-one-hand-on-the-other sentence structure. Government should address problems without interfering with the dynamism of the market.
He has tried to find this balance in a town without an organized center — in a town in which liberals chair the main committees and small-government conservatives lead the opposition. He has tried to do it in a context maximally inhospitable to his aims.
But he has done it with tremendous tenacity. Readers of this column know that I’ve been critical on health care and other matters. Obama is four clicks to my left on most issues.#x He is inadequate on the greatest moral challenge of our day: the $9.7 trillion in new debt being created this decade. He has misread the country, Printingimagining a hunger for federal activism that doesn’t exist. But he is still the most realistic and reasonable major player in Washington.

"It is likely that the longest walks she took were along the quayside at Portsmouth (southern England), her home town."
Hatch is just one of 19,000 Tudor treasures recovered with the wreck of the ship, a Tudor time capsule likened by archaeologists to a British Pompeii.

The Nikkei business daily reported that Naoto Kan had instructed the finance ministry to mull drawing down a portion of reserves worth nearly 20 trillion yen ($221 billion) in the forex special account to finance the Democratic Party's spending plans.

Any review of the forex special account could lead to a drastic overhaul of its management, as some lawmakers want to get
returns on investment by managing the interest income from the forex reserves separately from the account.

-- through the account, by setting aside interest income as reserves each year. (Reuters) - Scientists have found the "mother," or origin, of all skin cells and christmas wreathsay their discovery could dramatically improve skin treatments #xfor victims of serious wounds and burns.
Hans Clevers and a team of Dutch and Swedish researchers conducted a study in mice and found that the stem cell that gives produces all the different cells of the skin actually lives in hair follicles.
The findings, which they say will translate for human use, mean it may be possible to harness these stem cells to help with wound repair or skin transplants for burns victims, they said in a study in the Science journal on Thursday.
"This is the mother of all the stem cells in the skin -- it makes all the other stem cells," Clevers, of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in Utrecht, told Reuters in a telephone interview.
"The same stem cells exist in humans, we can see them, and thechristmas wreath promise is that these cells are probably going to be much better than anything we have had to date at making new skin."
The skin has three different populations of cells -- hair follicles, moisturizing sebaceous glands, and the tissue in between, known as the interfollicular epidermis. Stem cells are original cells, or drivers, from which all human cells develop.
Scientists had previously thought that stem cells in each of these three skin populations were capable of producing their own cell type, but until now, a "mother" stem cell which produces all three types had not been found.
Clevers' team found that a group of stem cells that live in hair follicles and which have high levels of a gene called Lgr6 are the original epidermal stem cells.
In tests on mice with wounds,samurai swords, they found that Lrg6 cells around the wound drove new skin growth and repaired the skin.
Scientists are already able to grow new skin in laboratories #xusing tissue from existing skin cells from patients who have been badly burned, but thechristmas wreath new skin is often brittle, dry and does not have hair -- making it look unusual.
